Dear delegates and partners, the accounting profession continually works to deliver value to the public and private sector and aims to bring high value-added to local economies. International studies have shown that the level of development of a country is closely correlated with the quality of the accounting profession. Thus the 53 professional organizations members of the Pan-African Federation (PAFA) are working to build a bridge to contribute to the emergence of African economies. When African accounting institutes function properly, they have the power to support the production of high quality financial information and good governance, which will contribute to the development of the public and private sectors. It is definitely our leitmotiv and that of the PAFA which has greatly honored us by entrusting us with the organization of the fifth edition of this great continental meeting. Three rich and beautiful days in Marrakech from 19 to 21 June 2019 are waiting for us to deal with a timely and topical theme namely the performance of the public sector in terms of efficiency, efficiency and economy and the role that plays and shoud play the accounting profession to stimulate them. We strongly hope that the June 2019 African Accounting Congress will be a historic moment for all of you to help build a successful public sector for Africa’s development.
